Luscious Dark Night

Some people celebrate these winter holidays with a profusion of light to push back the darkness, to invite in the growing sunlight.

I prefer to relish the dark. To get even quieter than normal, to pull inside, to incubate.

Even within the frozen ground seeds are being sown. We can add to the piles of the dead and dying foliage our own unnecessary detritus. All our selfish ways of self-protection, of self-reliance, of self-worth. So strange that I would put these positive words into that heap for burning.

I endeavor to turn more and more toward God for all needs. To release that striving, fragile, created self. No need for self-protection, no need for self-reliance, no need to build up self-worth. All are provided by God for our real essence. Without Divinity, we are weak and needy.

If you are lonely or sad or sick or grieving this holiday, know what a rich soil that can be if you let it. If you are joyous and celebratory, wonderful. The highest good provides all bounty for our edification. Whether that looks like riches or rags, we have what we need to exalt in real love.

Sending great love out to you all!
